About "Sun"

The idea for "sun" came to me while I was splashing away on a recent commission, "Nebula in Green". I loved the chance to venture into Outer Space and found the "splash-only" execution of the painting both fun and intriguing. I was also still basking in the fond memory of the bright yellow cape on the black background in "SideKick", the Artwork prior to the one I was working on. These elements, combined with the most incredible reference material from our good friends at NASA, quickly merged into an idea that refused to be ignored.
And how could I? It's not every day one gets the opportunity to use obnoxious amounts of yellow without a hint of hesitation -seven different hues of glorious yellow to be exact. And even though, towards the end, my Inner Artist had to subtly coax me into slowly putting down the eighth yellow tube and kicking it away from me, a tiny piece of me will always be convinced that "sun" needs more yellow.
