About "Sun in My Pocket"
This painting was inspired by the following lyrics:
I've got the sun in my pocket and the moon in hands
I throw it up amongst the stars and watch it move in a dance
Sometimes I stop and play it over again
With a smooth breeze blowing, flowing closer within, hey.
Now let me think about the route that I took
I heard them say that I should play it by the rules of the book
But I took it real easy on them, proceed to beat the problem
Smooth wishes in my words, belief's a need to calm them
Listen and pay attention to the things that I cam to mention
I've had simliar ways of tension, just consider the maze of questions
I have, I have, I'll be ready just give me a second, I'm there
Just give me a second, I'm there.
It's growing over now, so close I can almost hold it
Provoke and open now, hope there's those opposed to close it
For a broken soul is over, trading craters for holes to solve it
A cold reality for amnesty in closr circles
Unfold the known, it's worth, give them a sign to show it's perfect
A person evolves to purpose, a turn that resolves to earn it
Like this, like this, Just follow me if you're scared

About Liezel
I am an artist, accountant, bookworm, daughter, sister, wife and mother
I am a full time self-taught artist and attended various art workshops in Cape Town and London. I also have a Finance degree lying somewhere in a cupboard.
My art style is something that took over fourteen years to develop and it is an ongoing learning process. I believe the more I practice the more I like the end result. I wish I was like other artists who get inspired by nature and food and all that jazz but I just paint. That is it! My colour palette are obtained by throwing a dart at my colour wheel and then selecting the complementary or harmonious colours.
I am however obsessed with Gustav Klimt and can feel his passion and love for his work in every inch of his gold-infused paintings. I also left a piece of my soul in the Italian cathedrals dipped in gold-leaf.
My hobbies are:
- painting
- reading
- music
- Classical, Italian and French
- drinking tea and collecting vintage teacups
- I also have a passion for reading books about legendary artists
My art can be found in homes and offices from Cape Town to Johannesburg and London.
