About Doreen

Doreen Daubermann

The Artist was born into a farming family in Mazabuka, Zambia. Her natural love of nature in all forms, is obvious in her paintings. A wholeness of being part of nature, helps to put the excitement she feels, onto canvas or paper. Doreen paints only from Life, working on site, for hours, through beautiful Cape days, cold, wind, rain and sweltering sun. She feels Art, like nature cannot be compromised. It is best experienced first hand. The excitement of the scene, the moment in time, the live model, for her, cannot be experienced through photographs. The Vuleka Competition (New Signatures) sponsored by Sanlam was a success for her in 2001 and her painting Cloud Shadows was sold to a UK buyer. Her work has gone to all points of the compass through exhibition on South African Artists.com The Cape Gallery, Carmel Gallery, Frame Craft (V & A Waterfront), Bright Street Gsllery, Gallery Sharon(Somerset West), Kirstenbosch with the Cape Original Artists, Professional Cape Artists,Art Group, Jill Fearon Arts, and solo exhibition The Masque Theatre Muizenberg. Viewing is by appointment only. The Artist works in oils, watercolour, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink and all drawing mediums. Currently studying with Prof. Greg Kerr, on the year long,
Greg Kerr Workshop 2016 course. The ultimate in challenge and improvement. Doreen has also studied and worked with the late Francois Roux, the Late Eric Loubscher, Ryno Swart, all gave her inspiration and encouragement.
