About "The Tree of Life Sculpture"

I have always been interested in mystical teachings and the Kabbalah has a special place in my life. This is a simple depiction of the stages of creations and my my interpretations of the symbols. The original was sculted in boiler plaster and a mould was made. There is only a LIMITED EDITION of 12 of this sculpture. So far 3HAVE BEEN CAST AND SOLD.The dyes used are acid dyes and only very little acrylic paint is used, mainly for accent. The sculpture is suitable for outdoor, but over time a certain amount of fading may take place. Available on order only. Although the blanks are the same, no two sculpture ever look the same, and there is very little control on the actual colour produced.

About Eliseo

I was born and spent the first 14 years of my life in a small town in the South of Italy. In 1964 I immigrated to SA with my family and have lived here since.
In 2001 I gave up my career in the chemical industry to pursue a more inclusive holistic lifestyle in which Art and Philosophy were to play a significant role. Soon thereafter I was fortunate to find an insightful patient and dedicated art teacher, Zaria de Villiers, who was able to draw out my talent and develop my own style.
Initially I painted landscapes using photographs as inspiration, but realised that these were not representative of the changes taking place within me. I discovered that I could approximate concepts and ideas through the use of universal symbols and colours and so elements of surrealism crept into my work. My need to paint therefore is driven by my urge to record or maybe punctuate certain stages in my life, as well as the pleasure I derive in expressing them on canvas.
I offer these works in the hope that they may serve as a catalyst, a point to ponder, for others who may be on their own path of individuation.
