About "The Visionary"

This painting was inspired by a poem I wrote:

Rivers flowed through his fingers. Life gathered in his palms.
It spilled onto the earth and bore hope.
He saw the grace of his people, the strength in their bones and the reflections of a past yet to come.
They called him the visionary.

It speaks of hope and seeing a future for my city, Durban. For acknowledging where we began, our grassroots, and being inspired by a future yet to come. We started as a humble fishing village and it's incredible how we have developed and grown. My hope is that we become a people known as "the visionaries."

About Samantha

My passion for fine art began from a young age and I have since grown to showcase my work in small exhibitions. Since I have no formal training in fine art, I have a tendency of breaking the rules. I prefer to work with oils but have been experimenting with other mediums. I love colour. I wish we could see more of it in the world. One day I will have a mint green scooter and an art studio. Perhaps a scarf and flask of coffee as well.
