About "Townhouse"

This painting was made based on my childhood memory of playing in my parents garden. There I build a 'house' out of hanging up bed-sheets on trees and bushes. In my little safe space I made 'potions' out of leaves and berries I collected in the garden and then invited my cat and toys for soup.

(This work is painted on hardboard and mounted on a wooden frame for easy hanging)

About Zahn

Zahn Rust is a female fine artist and illustrator currently based in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Her practice has many themes, including research into her childhood memories, personal objects and spaces. Through the use of drawing, painting and print-making processes, she uses her art as a way of engaging her imagination, and that of the viewers, in exploring the shapes and colours of details that usually get overlooked in her immediate surroundings.
