Reference ABS307141 About "Waterfall in Autumn" This painting was a combination of ideas which started mainly with my bonsai trees. One of my acers had gone beautiful shades of red and I thought this would be wonderful to capture on canvas but had no idea what to put behind it. Then a brainwave came after a visit to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens where there is a lovely waterfall. And heypresto a painting was born. |

Painting and drawing was first introduced to me at a young age by my father who had attended art school and also loved to paint. My first paintings followed the "old school" style where the picture was a likeness of what was visually seen. This, however, was too restrictive and at the age of 55 and semi retired I was able to set up a studio at home. This enabled me to express my feelings and love of colour more freely. Now there are not enough hours in a day to put all my ideas on canvas. Mostly my paintings start as an idea formed from nature or natural occurence but once started the colours and shapes take on a life of their own.
