About "Witsand"

I have always loved the special feeling of sea sand under my bare feet and the way it slides down the dune as I walk up the incline. The smell of salty air and call of the gulls. Witsand is an attempt at capturing such a moment.

About Pierre

I was born in Viljoensdrift in the Free State, Rep. of South Africa in 1945.

I am a self-taught artist who makes art because I love it.

My careers in the mining industry, hotelling and later in construction has taught me to pay great attention to detail and pursue excellence.

It all started with a trip to Hout Bay a couple of years ago. The sight of a fleet of fishing boats released a long-dormant seed of creativity, which has grown into an insatiable passion for painting.

This an a love of all things nautical has influenced my choice of boats and harbours as mymain source of inspiration although I have ventured into other avenues.
