About Alida

My inspiration comes from the magic in the people and animals around me.I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember,it's something that I cannot live without.
There is so much amazing beauty in every day life,its just a matter of looking and seeing it.
The way you look at my paintings will determine what you see in them,The closer you look,the deeper they'll take you.
If you're open to the messages,you'll hear them.

The artist diTekenar has been captivating people with her beautiful,whimsical paintings since she began exhibiting in 2000.
She comes from a graphic design and animation background which is apparent in the real,yet unreal people and animals in her work.
Her paintings are filled with positive words and spiritual undertones,giving the flights of fancy a deeper meaning and complexity.
Oil colour is her favorite medium although she also enjoys using water colours and acrylics.Observing people and off-beat beauty inspire her and this starts a process that usually ends in a series of paintings,much like a story unfolding. Her art comes from within and she absolutely has to paint, its an integral part of who she is.

I have recently opened a gallery in swellendam called diGaliry.
