He works with high-quality oils applied straight from the tube to the canvas, creating breathtaking multi-coloured compositions defined by their incredible depth, texture, and emotional resonance.Leanard's signature style relies on an uncompromising commitment to the impasto technique. Applying paint up to 4mm thick in some areas, he builds sculptural layers that capture light and shadow in real-time. Because he rarely uses chemical hardeners, his paintings undergo a meticulous, natural curing process that takes up to 12 months before the canvas can be safely stretched. This deliberate, slow-drying method ensures the oil paint remains flexible, preventing the cracking that often plagues heavy impasto work and guaranteeing the lifelong durability of each piece.While initially inspired by the precision and warmth of Leonid Afremov's early work, Leanard studied these techniques independently and evolved far beyond them. He has developed a distinct, complex visual language that surpasses traditional boundaries, making him one of the few contemporary artists globally capable of executing such large-scale, texturally complex work.A deeply introspective artist, Leanard navigates communication difficulties by channeling his entire voice into his art.
