About Jan

Jan was born in 1954 in Belgium which is the hinterland of many world famous artists.The de Rooster family immigrated to South Africa in 1968 and in 1975 he returned to Belgium to study art at the famous St Lucas Hoger Instituut voor Beeldende Kunsten and passed this 3 year course with distinction. After this he enrolled for a 4 year course on a part time basis at the Stedelyke Academie voor Schone Kunsten, which he also passed with distinction.

Exhibitions

In 1979 Jan held his first of nine solo exhibitions in Belgium, followed by a number of solo and joint exhibitions in South Africa. His art has been sold all over the world and forms part of private and corporate collections in Belgium, Netherlands, France, Portugal, Peru, Australia, Namibia and South Africa.
