About Michael

Michael Hallier (1942 - 2001)was Professor of Fine Art at the University of Fort Hare in Alice. He obtained a BA in Fine Art at Wits University and a Masters degree from Rhodes University. He painted in oil and also worked as a graphic artist. He has held several solo exhibitions and his works have been exhibited extensively in South Africa. He also exhibited in West Germany, the USA, Switzerland and the UK. His early paintings were inspired by Asger Jorn (CoBrA Group) and he later developed his unique style of landscape painting.
