This work is inspired by rural township life. Where people go about their daily tasks. This twonship is siutated in Butterworth where I live.

About Loyiso

My name is Loyiso Victor Nabe. I am 30 years old and was born in Msobomvu Township from a small town called Butterworth. I have studied Fine Art (diploma) at former P.E. Technikon’s satellite campus at the Buffalo City College in East London. I then proceeded and graduated with a B.Tech degree from the School of Applied Art at Border Technikon.

I have specialized in painting although my other interests include drawing and printmaking. In my work, I have always attempted to capture the simple lifestyle of squatters in a squatter camp. I am always keen in exploring new techniques. I am currently incorporating elements such as collage in my work, where I stick relevant materials on the surface like tins, cloth, soil etc. Oil paint is the main medium and I want to push it to its limits by experimenting with it.
