About "Piet and The Bull"

An alla prima painting, sometimes one needs to go out and enjoy nature to its fullest. Painted on a farm just outside Pretoria. The shepherd was showing me his prowess with the bull. He was quite proud of his herd!!

About Riaan

Home schooled in oil painting by grandmother Ellen Botha, Riaan learned painting, sculpting and drawing in the style and manner of the "Old Masters".

South African artist, born in Germiston next to Johannesburg in 1976.

Influenced by Carravagio, Renoir and Van Gogh. Those 3 fascinate me! Carravagio with the stories his paintings tell, Renoir with the atmosphere and softness of his ladies and Van Gogh with his 3d style of painting and all round beauty of their works.
