About "... Up Where We Belong"

John Campbell is an artist with the exceptional ability to capture in his vividly colourful paintings, human emotions and atmosphere. For his forthcoming exhibition,
“Classics on Canvas” - 02 October 2008,
he found a rich source of inspiration in the story lines of much loved classic movies as well as evergreen musicals such as Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, Gone with the Wind, Chocolat, Moulin Rouge and As it is in Heaven. Leads by many people will assure that his works win a very wide appeal.
From 02 October till 24 October 2008

About John

John Campbell

John Henry Campbell
I was born on 01 December 1946. According to my mother, I could draw before I could walk. At the age of twelve my teacher entered four of my works into a national art competition - at which I won first, second & a booby price. That encouraged me to take art seriously! Even though I have studied art at Technicon Pretoria and under the guidance of several famous S A artists, I have never lost my desire to acquire new knowledge about the subject.
The technique I use, and for which I have received several awards, is dry brush. Themes and details are of less importance as I concentrate mainly on the expression of mood, passion, emotion or spirit of the subject - augmented by colour harmony.
I regard myself as a campaigner for artist[0x1]s rights and excellence.
Additional interests are science. I am currently doing research on the possible concurrence between science, brain, soul and religions.
