About "12 Guardian Sow"

Guardian Sow is a large-scale work centred on protection, structure, and relational presence.

At the heart of the composition lies a resting sow, surrounded by her young. The group forms a contained field -- not through movement, but through proximity and awareness. Each figure is held within the space of the other, creating a sense of quiet cohesion that extends beyond the physical arrangement.

The painting developed in parallel with reflections on my relationship with my sisters. Not in a literal sense, but through the underlying dynamics of closeness, protection, and the ways in which we hold one another over time. The sow becomes a point of focus through which these ideas can be explored without narrative, allowing the structure of the group to carry the meaning.

Light is used not to describe the scene, but to support the internal balance of the composition. In Solar Realism, attention is placed on how form, surface, and light interact to reveal presence. Here, the tension between rest and alertness becomes central -- a state in which care and vigilance exist simultaneously.

The scale of the work reinforces this sense of grounding. It does not ask for attention, but holds it.

The original oil painting has been sold.

Its inclusion here reflects its importance within the body of work and its role as a central piece within this series.

Fine-art gicl[0xC3A9]e prints on aluminium dibond are available in selected formats, allowing the work to retain its strength and clarity at scale.
