About "426 Tiger - Personal Touch"
I was doing a range of close up of the big cats and they do not come much bigger than the tiger, How impressive an animal it is.

About Ron
About the artist Ron Waldeck
Ron Waldeck, born in 1946, in the then Rhodesia. He is a self taught artist and started his career engraving artworks on brass sheet. He then switched to watercolours and gouache and his main concentration was on birds and wildlife, which he executed in great detail.
He has now progressed to producing a wide range of subject matter which includes realistic impressionism and palette knife in an impasto style. Close up work remains a favorite regardless of the subject matter. Bushman portraits to flowers, nudes to children playing on the beach, all bear the typical style of his close up preference. Obviously he has exhibited in many South African galleries and has also owned and run galleries in a number of towns and cities.
A few highlights:- Selected by Water Color Society of South Africa - top five to exhibit at Norscot Manor, Johannesburg. Exhibition in South West Africa, twice exhibited in Germany, at the Ambient Fair in Frankfurt.
Publications: African Sporting Gazette - four page spread. This is an international magazine. Arabella Life - Arabella Sheraton South Africa - the official magazine of the Arabella Country Estate.
Has produced and established a print series which is marketed at selected outlets in South Africa.
Quotable quotes: - In the words of Reynolds "The value and rank of every art is in proportion to the mental labor employed in it, or the mental pleasure produced by it. As this principle is observed or neglected, our profession becomes either a liberal art, or a mechanical trade. In the hands of one man it makes the highest pretensions, as it is addressed to the noblest faculties: in those of another it is reduced to a mere matter of ornament; and the painter has but the humble province of furnishing our apartments with elegance."
If only he knew the value of those "ornaments" today. What a shame to think that many of the "greats" only achieve fame after their death.
There is no doubt that art is a calling of passion. It takes a stout heart to continue when you hear the words "I don't like it" when you have given your all.
Fortunately, the words "I'll take it" has the exact opposite effect and the new day is taken on with confidence and enthusiasm.
A big "thank you" to all who have purchased Ron's works over the years. He is always most grateful and eager to produce the next, and who knows, you might just find yourself repeating the phrase that got you the first one.
