About George

Born in Malawi in 1964, I grew up in the countryside where there was very little exposure to the art world. During my idyllic childhood in the mountainous areas that is part of the Shire Highlands, became acquainted with a vast array of wildlife from a young age. When I left the countryside and moved to Blantyre i met a street artist who sold me a painting of roses and from that point my interest in art was kindled. I started teaching myself art using cheap material and things that I could find. I started practicing using tints and painting onto self -stretched clothing material. I resigning from factory work in 1990 and vowed to take art as a full time career and passion. Moving to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe where in the past twenty years i mastered the art of painting on elephant ears for clients of four of Zimbabwe's taxidermists before moving to South Africa. As my skills have progressed i have changed to watercolours and then oils, which is now my immediate medium. My default style is realism with a tangible detail
