About Helena

Helena Gerber

Studied Art, majoring in Ceramics, at the University of Stellenbosch from 1979 to 1983.
The influence of teaching art to pupils at various schools, is seen in her naive style of painting. The idea of no stress about realism and "painting the perfect picture" is freeing to her and the reason why her work is playful and fun..
She believes that the eyes are the windows to the soul, therefor painting portraits of women with soulful eyes is a typical trait of her work.
She attended several workshops with fellow South African artists like Hennie Niemann Senior, Phillip Badenhorst and Itai Vangani etc.
Her work is displayed at Art on Queen in Knysna, South Africa
