About Melanie Adele

Melanie Adèle Williams (usually know by her middle name of Adèle) was born in the UK (South Wales) in 1970. She traveled extensively in her younger years, living in Zambia for four years. Being exposed to Africa in her early life has affected her work deeply and left her with a passion for the African way of life and the beauty of its people.

After receiving a B.A.hons in graphic design (1991) she came to live in South Africa and participated in the first open elections of 1994. Adèle has lived as a Graphic Designer in Cape Town since 1996 but never lost her love for art.

How does she describe herself? “I am a quiet, diligent woman. Give me a paintbrush and some canvas and I am on cloud nine. My first memories are of my drawings in pre-school, I always liked to tell stories and like they say, a picture paints a thousand words”.

Exhibited in 1989 with the Harfield Society and once again in 2006 in a joint exhibition with two local artists Deon Tulleken and Pete Harrison.
