About Susan

I found painting about 17 years ago as a way of further expressing my creativity. Being a graphic designer at the time, I needed an escape from the heavy deadlines and adrenaline of the advertising industry from time to time. I started by following my passion for wildlife and general love of animals and began my journey by painting wildlife in oils.

Constantly wanting to challenge myself and my abilities I extended my knowledge to other mediums such as pastels and acrylics. Although I still enjoy bringing animals to life in paintings, I felt the need to break free from the limited palette of nature and entered into a phase of creating beautiful colours in abstract form. Painting abstracts gives me the freedom to start from nothing and just see where the paint takes me. It also gives me the opportunity to create different textures while using acrylics to add dimension to any piece of art.

Using all these new colours opened doors to exploring more subjects such as the human form and flowers.
I constantly attends workshops and courses to extend my knowledge and subjects of art.
