About "Don't Worry"

Red and green are opposite colours on the colour wheel and every book on art will tell you that colours opposite to each other on the colour wheel works well together. In my opinion, of all the opposites, the red and green combination are the most striking of them all. Nothing is more beautiful than red rose gardens or red poppy fields.
I called this painting [0x1]Don[0x1]t worry[0x1] because Jesus told us to look at the fields and see how pretty it and remember that the field has done absolutely nothing to attain its beauty. When I see a field filled with beautiful flowers like this one, I remember not to worry.

About Sonja

Born in 1982 in South Africa, Sonja grew up and spent the first 24 years of her life in the Northern Cape and North West. She grew up in a creative environment surrounded by very artistic family members.

It was only after she completed her studies and joined informal classes in oil painting that she discovered her new found passion in art. Since then, she has moved to Cape Town and made a career as a bookkeeper while nurturing art as a hobby.

In 2012 she finally decided to quit the world of full time finances and spend more time pursuing her artistic passion. She mainly works with charcoal and oils. She enjoys figurative work, believing that humans bring life, activity, character and atmosphere to a painting. Her paintings are inspired by human life and the beauty of nature.

On a personal level, Sonja is a great believer in pursuing one's dreams. She encourages everyone she knows to explore their creative side.
