About "Emerge into Freedom"

My story begins at the bottom of the canvas with the hands that
“EMERGE “out of the dark water – this symbolises a time when this country broke free from rules and regulations that made it impossible for us as South Africans to live in freedom and express who we were.

All of the grey hands in the painting symbolises the freedom fighters for
South Africa, like Nelson Mandela to name but one.
They stood by this country until the final outcome was “Freedom”.

South Africa is balanced on the fingertips of the first set of hands-representing the subtle approaches that had to be taken over time and the “waiting” that had to be done over the years.

The hand holding a stopwatch represents the hands of time - it has made us nervous and cautious over the years, but has also formed us into a wiser more sensible nation.

The hands that are chained represents a once conflicted South Africa were freedom was a dream, because the hands of time formed us we were not scared to break free..... it is from here that the butterflies is set free to fly off INTO the open hands at the top of the canvas that forms the conclusion of the painting. “FREEDOM”.

Our flags colours brilliantly come to light in the background - a symbol of our growth as a country and us as individuals and citizens of South Africa.

About Chaí Chanellé

Chaí Chanellé Bronkhorst

Art in my life, has always been a necessity rather than a choice and has been part of me ever since I can remember. Art has comforted me through every stage of my life, and is the one thing that hides and give me away all at the same time.
God has given all of us a different story to tell...I guess my paintings tell the story so far for itself. I would like to believe that they are illustrations of were I've been in my life as to were I am now.
I love pouring all my feelings into place & colour,.... to make sense of a world that can be rather confusing and rushed at times. Silence comes when you really listen....and then inspiration will follow.
Every painting is unique and has a secret of its own, no matter how I plan, they tell me what they want to be at the end.

There is so much emotion that goes into every piece. I love them as a mother would each of her children. Different but in the same way.....
Inspiration for me comes in different stages and forms but the language stays the same.
In order to get the most out of life you need to be in touch with who you as a person realy are, knowing were you belong, and where you dont.
Art is all around us and in every part of life...
