Reference HW6 About "Gnus Alert" I am exploring the world of decorated woodturning and while a platter is an obvious object to provide a surface to decorate, bowls can be less successful. They have undefined fronts and backs and are generally viewed below eye level so the decoration is obscured. This is a square rimmed offset bowl so, when placed on a desk, shelf or table, the rim stands at an angle and presents the image to the viewer. A group of Wilderbeest on guard. Are they guarding the contents of the bowl, a precious paperclip perhaps or are they huddled below the sun. The gilding in the bowl suggests so. |
