About "Lady Luck"
"THE ORACLE"aka "Lady Luck" was voted FIRST PLACE in an international juried online exhibition for all types of art.
The jury first selected the top placement for Traditional Art, then the top award for Photography and finally the top award for Digital Art.
Then from the top three winners, the jury selected the best overall winner...and that winner was Lady Luck!
The award stated, "Dr. Durst this is no small achievement as your work competed with some the best artists in the world in its chosen field, not to mention that it was also competing against the winners in the other two categories. Bravo, Michael, and Congratulations on this fine achievement."
Although the original has been sold, you can commission a Masterpiece Edition which has been meticulously matched to the original. By adding texture with many layers of acrylic paint and varnish, it is hand-embellished so that it replicates the actual painting itself. Thus, Masterpiece Editions become a one-of-kind works of art, by capturing the light and providing the depth of colours to create a three-dimensional effect. These Masterpiece Editions come with a Certificate of Authenticity and are numbered and signed by the artist. Please allow three weeks before shipment.

About Dr. Michael
According to the Ico Gallery in New York, "Dr. Michael Durst is one of the most exciting South African artists. As a psychologist, Dr. Durst's paintings create not only beauty for the beholder, but also a state of relaxation and healing. His work combines realism with impressionism, evoking an emotional link to the heart thus the name: Heartscapes.
Dr. Durst loves to paint the beauty of Cape Town--especially the Waterfront, Table Mountain, ocean views, spring flowers, the vineyards and, of course, the people of the Cape. According to Dr. Durst, "I like to re-create a "magical moment" that I have experienced. As I do so, I strive to achieve a delicate balance between the realism and impressionism of the scene and the even greater intensity created by fractals with light, texture and colour. At a certain juncture, an integration occurs. The captured moment in time is taken in without judgment by the brain, allowing the vibrational intensity to adjust the frequency of the hearts rhythms. As the integrated process continues, the viewer becomes awash with positive emotions, a sense of peace, and greater coherence all of which contribute to physical, mental and spiritual healing."
In 2024, Dr. Durst was awarded the "Leonardo da Vinci Universal Artist Award in Milan, which is one of the art world's finest symbols of recognition, named after one of the greatest artists who has ever lived. It represents the pinnacle of an important artistic career.
His work has won countless First Place international awards, has appeared on covers of books, magazines and CD's and in the collections of many celebrities, organizations, and gallery exhibitions.
