Reference Couple at pension day About "Pension Day 1" I am deeply moved by the plight of poor elderly people in rural South Africa. This lady and her husband of whom the next painting is, always dress up smartly and spend their pension day sitting in the sun in the village. It is their once monthly outing. The money they receive is less than 100 dollar, and they have no other means of earning as they have been broken by the hard labour they did all their lives. |
