About Spencer

He is intrigued by bold, striking images, a multiplicity of rich, complex colours, sometimes complimentary, sometimes outrageously incompatible and challenging. His images, and the central focus of his works, emerge spontaneously and progressively as the painting progresses. He states that he seldom starts a painting knowing clearly what the end result is going to be.

His career to-date has embraced some years within the advertising industry, followed by a spell in sales and sales management, before settling down as a full-time artist. He currently has very satisfied, repeat-order clients in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria and Mauritius, as well as throughout southern Africa.

Spencer grew up in Johannesburg, enjoys all forms of sport, is most at home in the outdoors, especially the Mpumalanga lowveld.

He welcomes commissions from all those who relate to his unique contemporary style.
