About Kala

There is no extraordinary reason why I paint, I simply must paint.
The paints, brushes, canvas, palette, I love them all, every aspect of painting appeals to me.
Most people hate the smell of turpentine, but to me it's a creative trigger. I love the whole process, from mixing the colours to cleaning the brushes. I have even come to enjoy the struggle as part of the artist's journey.
Painting outdoors has become an obsession. The shapes of the waves, colours of the sky and sounds of nature come to life on my canvas, as I see and feel it in the moment. There is an immediacy, freshness and honesty in these outdoor paintings that cannot be replicated in the studio.
I simply must paint.
