Whilst always having been a creative person, it was only many years after raising a family when finally I found the courage, inspiration and time to immerse myself in my art.
In 2003 I decided to enroll in some part-time adult courses in fine art, which ignited a spark that quickly grew into a flame. This led to a full time diploma course, an experience which opened my mind and heart and gave me the freedom to express myself as an artist. I am inspired by many things, the beauty of nature, the joy of movement, and I have also explored the concept of ageing.
In 2008 I had the privilege of living and working for a year in Southern California.
I met local artists, many of whom participate in a lot of plein air work, capturing the scenes around them from life. I was inspired by their direct and fresh response to their surroundings.
The old Spanish missions in those areas gave me a feeling for the beauty in old buildings and architecture.
I continue to find a lot to inspire me in Cape Town where I live and work.
