About Liezel

My childhood years in the Karoo cultivated a passion for the dry and desolate areas of Southern Africa. Not only do I love the beautiful and often simplistic architecture of yesteryear, but I am also drawn to the mundane, the lonely and sometimes forgotten sights you find in the far out reaches of the ‘platteland’. My paintings are testimony to my encounters with these landscapes, buildings and objects and my mission is to give them pride, dignity and life again.
