About "Brother Re-united"

The human tradgedy after the natural disaster which hit Haiti in 2010 moved me. I saw, on a news clip, that two orphaned brothers were re-united by the Red Cross after being separated during the disaster. The image of the two boys embracing each other stayed in my mind to the extent that I had to express it in this painting

About Diana

Living in Switzerland as an 'ex-pat'since 2003, I have only recently taken up painting on canvas but have been involved in many different forms of art my whole life. I find that I am motivated to paint on a subject by the glipse of a photo; something in the news. I am very moved by the emotions these stir within me. I use very strong colours in my paintings which many Europeans note as something that seems typical of people who coming from the warm Southern hemisphere.
