About Minnie

Personal Information: Minnie Robertson.
I live and work from my home studio Free State, South Africa. I have been drawing and "Making Paintings" from a very young age, and was always fascinated by form and colour. The patterns and play of sunlight through the tree leaves and on the bright summer flowers has always attracted me.

Inspiration:
My inspiration for my work comes from small "Everyday Happenings", as well as from nature. I love the sea and trees, and do seascapes from the Port Edward area on the Natal South Coast. I usually make pencil sketches and take a back-up photograph, and then complete the painting in my studio. Although I started my professional painting career late in my life, I have already taken part in group exhibitions in Welkom and in Klerksdorp. My art teacher, mentor and good friend, Therese Grunow, a well known and accomplished South African water colour and miniature artist, has a very strong influence in my life and my work. She has opened up a world of beauty, colour and an appreciation of art for me.
