Nadja Martinussen
About Nadja
Born in Johannesburg to a German father and an English mother, I grew up visiting the Kruger Park multiple times a year. What I saw inspired in me a great love of the African bush and its most famous treasures - its wildlife. Each creature, from the humble dung beetle to the stately elephant, was beautiful in its own way and when I started art lessons at school, they were the first subjects I drew. Through my artwork, I hope to convey the animals' grace and majesty and the need to preserve and nurture them for future generations. Far too many wild animals die needlessly, whether through poison traps set up by farmers or through the cruel and savage butchery of poaching. With this in mind, I am proud to have drawn for Back to Africa, a non-profit dedicated to giving back to the African wildlife that it has lost.
