About "Reflections, Part 1"
ON SHOW AT THE KAROO ART HOTEL, BARRYDALE.
This is about life within the frame. It's about creating something honest and real. About creating something you could lose yourself in again, again, and again.

About Steven
Steven Ryalls is a painter and a sculptor. His latest collection of oil on canvas is an exploration of the stillness we find within, and the sheer beauty of its simplicity.
The mesmerising underwater worlds of fish and the irrepressible allure of flowers are the central stories in this collection. 'Reflections' is about life up close, and Ryalls' own personal journey to grow as a painter in the dreamy playfulness of light, liquid movement, and those moments that hold us in the present.
In a move away from the strong lines, graphic styles, and social commentary of his previous work, Ryalls has grown roots and found solace in the natural world. "That's what I want to share now," he says. "I want to create art that takes you to a quiet place."
Ryalls graduated from the National School of Arts in the mid-80s, and has studied under some of the most celebrated names in South African art.
He was just 24 when his work was first exhibited at the Trent Reed Gallery of Contemporary Art in Johannesburg, and has sold his bronze sculptures and paintings to both local and international buyers.
