About Graham

Born in subtropical Margate, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa in 1950, I had the privilege of living on a hill overlooking the sea for the first 10 years of my life, which greatly influenced my love for distance and perspective which is portrayed in my creative work.

My subsequent experience of living on a farm in the Free State, characterised by the freedom of wide open spaces, further enhanced my love of nature and the natural environment. I have travelled and lived widely throughout South Africa and Namibia, with my contribution to my deep appreciation and understanding of the African landscapes inherent in my art.

I am largely self-taught, but have gained immensely from the input of various recognised South African artists. However, I retain my unique style, interpretation and expression of my subject matter. My work mirrors the reality of form, texture and rich colours characteristic of Africa. I invest emotionally in my art, creating an image reminiscent of a tangible interpretation of the environment portrayed, often also incorporating unique frames that enhance both image and atmosphere.

My artwork captures the uniqueness and beauty of the African experience and those special moments when we relate to our oneness with nature.
