About "Roots of Africa"

Working four years on this baobab tree sunset made me realize the power, the symbolic meaning and the relevance of it to all people around the world who has their roots firmly based in the soil of Africa. Irrespective of where they are today, their roots will always be dated back to the African continent.

About Gideon

Born in May 1965. Grew up in Phalaborwa, Limpopo.
Living so close to nature in the African bush as a youngster left deep imprints and connections to the natural colours, forms, textures and campfire stories that startled all the senses.
Involved in the design and advertising industry for decades kindled the love of design, fine art and photography.
Discovered a natural talent and understanding of the printing process at art school which caused me to have a natural love towards woodcut prints, lino prints and etchings.
